SIVOM was created in Côte d’Ivoire in 1972.
As from set out, SIVOM has always ranged amongst the three foremost port operators in the ports of Côte d’Ivoire, Abidjan and San Pedro, and the quality of its services have always been recognized.
In 1998, SIVOM created its first subsidiary outside Côte d’Ivoire, SOCOMAR Cameroun.
A year later, the subsidiary Senomar in Dakar was activated. Early 2006, SIVOM engaged into a partnership with Ecomarine in order to take active part in the development of the container terminal licence obtained by Ecomarine.
Early 2006, SIVOM engaged into a partnership with SIFAX in order to take active part in the development of the terminal C in Tin Can Island Port.
July 2006, SIVOM won the bid to operate exclusively and for 25 years the BOT of two dry ports in Chad.

Since decades, the port industry in West and Central Africa has been and continues to be dominated by International, non-African interest, sometimes shipping Line related .
SIVOM, a 100 % African Company, wishes to offer alternative and African solutions in most/all ports in the range Dakar/Luanda, either alone or with African partners.
Being independant and being African, the future structure will allow carriers to make their choices in respect of reliable and performing port operators without being forced into the hands of possible competing/conflicting interest.
Provide services of the highest international standards in the sub-region;
Develop relationships with the important Hinterland ( Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Central Africa )
Discussions are in process concerning Guinee Bissao, Freetown, Monrovia, Cotonou, Calabar and Pointe Noire.
